Some things that are new at Fine Little Day

Remember Apple Papple? He's so cute.

Michael and I went to the Tri-Cities this week for his birthday and to see his parents. Unlike dreary Seattle, the sun is shining and one can drive with the windows down in the Tr-Cities. To my sun starved eyes, eastern Washington may as well be Shangri-La.


We stopped in Hood River, OR to stretch the legs and drink more coffee. This place has changed in the past 10 years. More coffee shops and winery outposts than surf shops. My family and I used to go to Hood River every summer to windsurf (oh bizarre sports of yesteryear!)

Value Village. Michael humors me by trying on sweaters he doesn't like.




And back to Seattle...through the worst rush hour traffic in the windiest rain. But it's good to be home.

I hadn't made a necklace in a while. Then a trip to the Goodwill yielded some vintage square beads and inspiration struck again. The Goodwill rarely lets me down.

I'll get creating as soon as I finish re-organizing all this stuff...

A bit of my weekend...


The weather is DREARY in Seattle.

But little shoots come up...


I make a lemon cake for the Oscars party at Tess's with this recipe






Ta da! The Oscars may be boring and predictable and at times unwatchable but at least we have cake.


Capital Hill shopping expedition for stamp making supplies with Michael. I came home with carving blocks, carving tools, a brayer and inks. I also found metallic thread for garland making; a miraculous material I heretofore did not know existed. I love copper-y things...
